SPIRAL POINT TAPS: Spiral Point taps are designed for thru hole applications. The spiral point pushes the chips forward and out the bottom of the hole, this helps to eliminate torn threads in the work piece. Spiral Point taps come in a wide variety of sizes including fractional, machine screw, and metric sizes; as well they come in optional numbers of flutes. [BACK]

FLUTELESS SPIRAL POINT TAPS: A Spiral Point Tap that does not have any flutes and is designed for assembly work where there may be some misalignment between two layers of material. They are extremely strong tools that resist breakage. [BACK]

LEFT HAND TAPS: A general purpose (GP) tap that may be used by hand or in a production type machine. Available in a wide variety of H limits, number of flutes, machine screw, factrional, and metric sizes. May be used in a wide variety of materials and applications. [BACK]

EIGHT PITCH SERIES: Used mainly in the Oil and Power Generation Industries. [BACK]

HIGH HELIX / LOW HELIX - SPIRAL FLUTED TAPS: Available in 30ƒ and 52ƒ as Standard items. Designed for bottoming hole applications, the helical flutes provide a lifting action so the chips are pulled up thru the top of the hole, recommended for stringy ductile material. Available in fractional, metric, and machine screw sizes. [BACK]

PULLEY TAPS: Pulley taps are available 6,8,10, and 12-inch lengths and are used for tapping hubs of pulleys for oil caps or setscrews. [BACK]

EXTENSION TAPS: Extension Taps are available in machine screw, fractional, and metric sizes. They are stocked with or without spiral points and in a variety of different lengths. Used for applications where extra reach is required. *NOTE sizes 3/8" and below are furnished with standard size shanks and above 3/8" are furnished with small shanks. [BACK]

RADIAL TAPS (CAST IRON TAPS): Taps designed for use in Cast Iron, have a low hook, 2-1/2 thread chamfer, and a Nitride treatment to help overcome the abrasive qualities of cast iron. [BACK]

SOLID CARBIDE: Made of micrograin carbide, these taps come in a variety of styles including hand, spiral point for thru hole applications, Presform (thread forming), Metric, and in a CNC style. They are specifically designed for tapping highly abrasive materials such as Aluminum and Cast Iron in the automotive industry, and Titanium alloys, Sintered Metals, and Inconel in the medical and aircraft industries. [BACK]

CARBIDE TIPPED: Manufactured with a High Speed Steel body with Carbide brazed on for the cutting edges. This provides the toughness of High Speed Steel and the performance of Carbide. They are specifically designed for tapping highly abrasive materials such as Aluminum and Cast Iron in the automotive industry, and Titanium alloys, Sintered Metals, and Inconel in the medical and aircraft industries. [BACK]

NYT DRILTAP: A unique tool that drills and taps all in the same operation. This provides not only cost savings in the form of set up times but also in reduced inventory. NYT DRILTAP is furnished with a 118ƒ helical point that is self-centering. Used in the construction, electrical, maintenance, and automotive industries. Available in fractional, screw machine, metric, and taper pipe sizes. [BACK]

PRESFORM: Designed to form the thread instead of cutting it, therefore eliminating any CHIPS. This saves on chip damaged holes and costly clean-up operations. They are able to run at higher speeds and can be used in die-cast, sand cast and extruded Aluminum, also in die cast, wrought, and extruded Zinc, also may be used in wrought and cast Copper. Available in fractional, machine screw, and metric sizes. [BACK]

STI TAPS: These taps are oversize to the extent that the internal thread that they produce will accommodate a helical coil wire screw thread insert, which at final assembly will accept a screw thread of the nominal size and pitch. [BACK]

METRIC: A general purpose (GP) tap that may be used by hand or in a production type machine. Available in a wide variety of H limits, number of flutes, machine screw, fractional, and metric sizes. May be used in a wide variety of materials and applications. [BACK]

TAPER/STRAIGHT PIPE TAPS: Normally used for pipefittings and couplings. The nominal size of the tap is that of the pipefitting and not the actual size of the tap. Available in NPT, NPTF, and ANPT, NPS, and NPSF. Pipe taps are also available with an interrupted thread that allows for better lubrication and lessens friction therefore making them ideal for tapping tough materials. They are also available with a spiral flute that makes them effective when tapping in a material that produces a long stringy chip; the spiral flute lifts the chip up and out of the hole being tapped. [BACK]

CNC-SS (STAINLESS STEEL): These taps have specifically designed special configurations for a wide variety of stainless steels, and are made out of a heat and wear resistant super premium steel. They come standard with a Steam Oxide surface treatment that retains liquid lubricant at the cutting edges, helps to prevent chip welding, and are made to table 302A standards. [BACK]

CNC-CS (CARBON STEEL): These taps have specifically designed special configurations for a wide variety of carbon steels, and are made out of a heat and wear resistant super premium steel. They come standard with a Steam-Oxide surface treatment that retains liquid lubricant at the cutting edges, helps to prevent chip welding, and are made to table 302A standards. [BACK]

CNC-CI (CAST IRON & SINTERED METALS): These taps are specifically designed for discontinuous chip applications. The bottoming taps have a modified chamfer 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 threads and have special configurations for a wide variety of cast irons, and are made out of a heat and wear resistant super premium steel. They come standard with a Nitride and Steam-Oxide surface treatment that retains liquid lubricant at the cutting edges, helps to prevent chip welding, and produces a very hard shallow surface for these very abrasive material types. They are made to table 302A standards. [BACK]

CNC-NI (NICKEL ALLOYS): These taps have specifically designed special configurations for a wide variety of nickel alloys, and are made out of a heat and wear resistant super premium steel.
