About Us The NYTD Advantage How to Order

TWO FLUTE: 2 flute End Mills are normally used to Plunge, Spot Drill, and Profile. They have a greater chip carrying capacity, which allows for large amounts of material to be removed at once. A finishing End Mill may be required. [BACK]

THREE FLUTE: They offer a smoother cutting action than the 2 flute End Mill, and often produce an acceptable finish in machined parts. Can be used for Plunge, Slotting, Pocket, and Keyway milling. [BACK]

MULTI FLUTES: They are normally used after roughing mills to get the machined part not only to size, but also to provide the precise finish that is required. They are used in a number of different applications including, the machining of Steel, Brass, and Iron. [BACK]

HIGH HELIX FOR ALUMINUM (CARBIDE): These tools can be run at up to 10x the speeds of High Speed Steel. The special high spiral is designed for maximum chip removal in Aluminum. The premium carbide micrograin structure of these tools resists fracturing, chipping and is harder and more wear resistant. [BACK]

CENTER CUTTING (CC): CC End Mills are designed with "End Teeth" to allow for penetration into the work piece much like the action of a drill, making these ideal for applications such as Slotting and Cavity applications. [BACK]

NON-CENTER CUTTING (NCC): NCC End Mills are designed not to be able to penetrate the work piece therefore making these ideal for facing and profiling operations. [BACK]

HIGH SPEED STEEL (HSS): High Speed End Mills are economical and excellent all purpose cutting tools. They are well suited to job shop operations where numerous one of a kind jobs are encountered involving a wide range of materials being machined. They are usually tougher and more forgiving of less than perfect cutting conditions. [BACK]

BALL END/ BALL NOSE: These End Mills are made with a rounded cutting edge that mills a contour when sharp corners are unacceptable and could lead to stress fractures. They are used in the die and mold industry. They are only available as a Center Cutting tool. [BACK]

MINIATURE END MILLS: Stocked in a number of different sizes, they come in a variety of styles such as 2FL Center Cutting, 4FL Non Center Cutting, and 2FL ball Nose. [BACK]

COBALT: Cobalt End Mills are better able to retain hardness at elevated temperatures, and are more resistant to abrasion; they are suitable for gritty, scaly materials like Cast Iron, Cast Steels, and some Heat-Treated Materials. Cobalt Mills stay sharper than HSS therefore providing more cuts between grinds, and less downtime, resulting in lower costs per piece. [BACK]

ROUGHING END MILLS: These End Mills are designed to "HOG OUT" or remove the material at faster rates, but normally do not provide a suitable surface finish. They offer decreased horsepower requirements, and since they only require the face to be resharpened you are able to get many more regrinds per tool. [BACK]

VELVET KUT: This is a unique tool that is designed to rough and finish all in one application. It will often give you an acceptable surface finish, therefore eliminating a finishing operation. This cuts down on inventory, and saves by cutting down machine and set up time. These tools are able to remove large amounts of material in less time. [BACK]

PARTICLE METALLURGY (PM): These types of End Mills are made with and without Cobalt. They are able to run at faster Speeds and Feeds, have excellent red hardness and abrasion resistance, and are ideal for the most demanding applications and materials such as, Titanium, Inconel, Hastaloy, and Waspaloy. [BACK]

XP/PM: These Extra Performance PM End Mills without Cobalt have been proven to run as much as 3X faster than M42 Cobalt End Mills. They hold up to the rigors of tough applications and machining thus providing increased productivity. These tools can be easily resharpened. [BACK]

XP/PMC: These Extra Performance PM End Mills with Cobalt and Tungsten are designed for the toughest applications including the machining of Titanium, Inconel, Hastaloy, and Waspaloy. They demand faster Speeds and Feeds of up to a 40% increase over normal. These tools have better wear resistance and a higher red hardness. [BACK]

METRIC: High Speed End Mills are economical and excellent all purpose cutting tools. They are well suited to job shop operations where numerous one of a kind jobs are encountered involving a wide range of materials being machined. They are usually tougher and more forgiving of less than perfect cutting conditions. Available in a variety of sizes and styles. [BACK]

BRIDGEPORT 3/4" SHANK: The ideal Mill for Bridgeport machining, they are designed for use in most materials of medium hardness such as Steel, Brass, Bronze and Iron. They are available in both Finishing and Roughing styles. [BACK]

(SOLID CARBIDE) NC TOLERANCE : Extremely tight tolerances for precision machining. The premium carbide micrograin structure of these tools resists fracturing, chipping and is harder and more wear resistant. They can be ran 3X to 10X faster than HSS. [BACK]

CORNER ROUNDING: Designed to produce a blending radius on sharp corners and can be used in a variety of different materials. [BACK]
